Left-Wing Factions Embark on Coalition “For Social Changes” 11:12, 10/07/2001
Two parties “Popular Gromada” and Labor Party, along with other eight public foundations and trade unions stepped up an attempt to restructure the leftist political bloc, reports Radio Ratsya. The new entity was called Confederation “For Social Changes”. Its leaders expressed readiness to enter the movement “For new Belarus!”.
The Confederation’s chief goals are to unite efforts in altering the present economic policy, thus enhancing the Belarusians’ living standard, and in the practical protection of people’s social, economic and political rights, fulfillment of joint social and humanitarian projects and programs, reports BelaPAN.
Initiators of the Confederation “For Social Changes” stated that they act as a left center amalgamation, opposed to the ruling regime.
