“Gart” Youth Office Comes Under Attack 11:16, 10/08/2001
Assault against the “Gart” youth center in Gomel has been committed again by the local KGB. This time they confiscated all computers and appliances from the office, under the roof of which there operate a few youth organizations, ZUBR included. They arrested four ZUBR activists. A criminal proceeding is initiated on the charge of graffiti drawing.
The reason for confiscating the property of the youth center remains unclear but, taking into account the fact that the authorities explain frequent break-ins at the public associations offices as the natural consequences of decree#8, most likely the equipment has been seized for the same motives.
As you remember two days ago KGB operatives attempted to get into “Gart’s” office likewise, but they weren’t let do it. In response, they cut off electricity from the place and detained two underage ZUBRs, one even had to stay in detention center overnight.
