Documentary Festival Incurs Problems of Broadcasting 11:05, 14/08/2001
On August 13 there’ll start the festival of documentaries – laureates of the festival “One world”. According to the People in Need expert Vratislav Rzhehak, the films are dedicated to human rights and were shown throughout last year in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia and Kosovo. Moreover, said Rzhehak, similar action will take place in Armenia, Azerbaijan and other CIS states, where various human rights violations occur. Speaking about the hardships in organizing the movies’ show on the territory of Belarus, Vratislav Rzhehak stressed that “festival organizers never ran similar problems before, which makes Belarus a unique country”.
Chair of the Belarusian youth cultural center Ales Masur said that the initiators of the event, held in Minsk and 80 Belarusian towns as part of the “Choose!” campaign, are the BYCC and People in Need foundation. The Czechs presented 12 movies, produced by filmmakers from Great Britain, Denmark, Holland, USA, Czech Republic and Estonia, including famous works of the Belarusian authors “Ordinary president” by Yuri Khaschevatsky and “Fear” by Leonid Mindlin and Vladimir Andronov.
