ZUBR resistance held a “Time to clean up!” series of actions in Brest. The first one took place on a central beach of the polluted river Mukhovets. Having embarked on two boats ZUBRs started to pick up trash floating in the water. The sunbathing Brest residents were astonished to eye boys and girls cleaning the water from empty cigarette boxes, butts, plastic bottles and other rubbish. After the guys went ashore they resumed their practice there. Over one hour of cleaning they gathered 37 full trash-bags, 60 liters each.
Same day ZUBRs started collecting signatures among the residents of Kovalevo suburban area under the collective appeal to the municipal authorities to resolve the problem of laying asphalt on the October Revolution street. In two weeks’ time they gathered some 800 signatures to be submitted to the Minsk city hall.
On August 13 ZUBRs determined to wash clean the city fountain from graffiti, which, as different from ZUBR ones, the city administration declines to whitewash. It took the activists one hour to make the whole thing shining and spotless.
The people reacted very positively to the action. ZUBRs explained to them that the campaign would last till Sept.9, when they will finish to clean up the country from trash.
