CEC Deprives Schukin of Trustee’s ID 11:03, 17/08/2001
The Central Electoral Committee declined to issue for Valery Schukin a document, certifying that he is a confidant of the candidate for the president Syamon Domash. At present Schukin is serving a three-months term in Zhodino jail.
On August 16 CEC passed out certificates to the trustees of the nominees for the presidency. The documents were handed to the leaders of initiative groups. Head of Domash’s initiative group Evgeny Lobanovich was supposed to receive Valery Schukin’s certificate, but they never gave it to him, although on August 15 Schukin had been confirmed as trustee. Today, however, they insisted that he must get it personally.
Lobanovich reminded them that Schukin is serving his jail term right now and will come out not until the ballot is over, but this reminder had no effect. They told him in response that “these are Schukin’s problems”.
