Police in Control of Lida Public Organizations
11:05, 21/08/2001

Lida police is executing an order from the Grodno regional council on the examination of computer equipment of local public organizations. BelaPAN has previously reported about such an order, listing names of six local political and non-partisan activists, who have to be dealt with in first place.

August 20 morning Artur Ganko, leader of the “Generation” center, was summoned to the city police. He was invited there by major Rybak, who phoned him beforehand. The conversation lasted for 1,5 hours, Ganko being interrogated by different law-enforcers. All their questions touched upon the origin of the equipment, possessed by the “Generation”. According to Stanislav Sudnik, police talk with Artur Ganko was futile anyway – all the necessary documentation on the origin of the equipment, police already had half a year ago and discovered nothing wrong with it.
