Special Representative of OSCE Chairman-in-Office to Visit Belarus 11:05, 28/08/2001
OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vice-President Kimmo Kiljunen, special representative of the OSCE chairman-in-office, Romanian Foreign Minister Mircea Dan Geoana, will be on a visit to Minsk on August 28 and 29.
As the special representative of the OSCE chairman-in-office, Mr. Kiljunen will lead the short-term observers jointly deployed by the OSCE/ODIHR Limited Election Observation Mission and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly for Belarus, presidential election, according to the OSCE Advisory and Monitoring Group in Belarus.
During his stay, Mr. Kiljunen intends to meet with Foreign Minister Mikhail Khvostov, Lidya Ermoshina, chairwoman of the central election commission, and the chairperson of the Minsk Territorial Election Commission, in order to further his understanding of the pre-election situation in Belarus.
Mr. Kiljunen is also to have meetings with presidential candidates, organizers of the domestic election observation network, representatives of human rights groups.
