Illegitimate Agitation for Lukashenko Continues 11:04, 06/09/2001
Statement with claim to review the issue of registration cancellation of candidate Lukashenko for violations of legislation was forwarded to the Central Electoral Committee by Valentina Polevikova – head of Vladimir Goncharik’s election crew. The statement reads that local authorities also joined in the illicit agitation methods, circulating hundreds thousand copies of propagandistic literature.
For instance, lately there appeared throughout the country the brochure “Lukashenko is our president”. It reads that it had been produced by the Administration and members of Lukashenko’s pre-election headquarters. This sort of literature is published in breach of the law – without any exit data. However, Goncharik’s office asserts that not even once had the distributors of such materials been held accountable.
