Police Attempts to Storm the Palace of Culture 11:87, 09/09/2001
Police undertook an attempt to storm the Palace of Culture, occupied since yesterday night by the unique candidate and his 200 supporters. At 5.30a.m. some young people walked out of the building and, having split into two teams, started playing soccer on the Oktyabrskaya square. All of a sudden a dozen of riot police law-enforcers jumped out of the police bus and rushed to catch the people, who ran back into the Palace and shut the door behind them. Riot police sought to break into the building by force, but they weren’t able to get through the barricaded doors. At the moment the law-enforcers are counseling at the Palace of Culture.
