Vladimir Goncharik Tries To Contest Results In Supreme Court 11:05, 24/09/2001
On September 24 Presidential candidate Vladimir Goncharik, leader of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, will forward to the Supreme Court a complete text of complaint on election code violations during the presidential election. The Supreme Court according to the rules of election disputes analysis, is to pass decision in 10 –days term. According to Goncharik, “the announced results of the election have nothing in common with the real choice of the people. Monitors have recorded thousands of violations, starting with non-admission of representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations to the election commissions, agitation for the one candidate in the state-run newspapers, radio and television and smear campaign directed against other candidates, and concluding with the mass replacement of the ballots”.
