Supreme Soviet Delegation to Take Floor At PACE Session 11:06, 24/09/2001
The 13th Supreme Soviet is leaving for Strasbourg for the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council. The delegation will consist of tree persons. The Supreme Soviet deputies are planning to participate in the work of political groups, to meet the responsible persons. “It is very important that the voice of the Supreme Soviet as well as political opposition were heard in Strasbourg. Because the other delegation is coming with other goals, other aspirations. We are also going to attend PACE Standing Committee sitting, we have already received an invitation. The ‘Belarusian question’ is to be considered for the third time there. De facto Belarus will have the “vacant seat” status, de jure – Supreme Soviet preserves its mandate. The mandate commission is still to determine the final status of Belarus”, -- Deputy Speaker of the 13th Supreme Soviet Anatoly Lebedko informed.
