Two large crosses were raised in Kurapaty in front of the sign indicating the place. By the road miniature icons and tables with the words “More than 200 thousands people were shot there” were attached to branches of the trees.
The construction works for expanding the ring road are still continued, and the traces of the bulldozers are seen by the largest Kurapaty’s cross and a memorial sign “For Belarus’s Martyrs” already.
The representatives of the Conservative Christian Party the “Belarusian Popular Front” and the Young Front, along with the ordinary people, believe that these crosses would prevent builders from running bulldozers on the sacred places.
The vice chairman of the CCP BPF Sergey Popkov asserts that every day people will come to Kurapaty to observe the construction works. Soon a few more crosses are to appear there, to block the way to the places of the burial-ground of Stalin repressions’ victims.
