“Brest Courier” Warned By State Committee On Press 11:09, 25/09/2001

Editorial stuff of the independent newspaper “Brest courier” got official warning from State committee on pressg by post yesterday. The Committee warned newspaper for violation of the fifth article of the Law on press- for publishing an appeal called “Stop persecution of democratic candidates!” 
Trial Against Election Monitor 11:08, 25/09/2001

Trial against monitor of “Vesna” Grigory Varvashecich began in Brest. He is accused of attempt to hinder president elections on one of polling station of the city. Varvashecich was arrested on September 9 in the evening while he was trying to get to polling station #11, during count of voices. 
PACE Chairman Lord Russel-Johnston: Belarus Election Rigged 11:05, 25/09/2001

Yesterday at a the PACE session of the Parliamentary Assembly of The European Council in Strasbourg on the results of monitoring the election in Belarus. His evaluation of the election in Belarus was voiced by Belgian MP Stefan Goris, who heads the PACE delegation of the monitors at this election. According to Goris, the election in Belarus was neither free nor fair. They failed to meet standards of the European Council, however he against isolation of Belarus. 
“Pagonia” Warned By Public Prosecutor On Day Before Trial On Paper’s Liquidation 11:04, 25/09/2001

Criminal case of independent newspaper “Pagonia” in Grodno continues. On Sunday newspaper got warning of regional public prosecution office. Newspaper was warned because of publication of two articles in the 36-th issue of newspaper, in that very issue that was confiscated at printing house. Criminal case was started for slander on Alexander Lukashenko. Editor of the newspaper “Pagonia” Nikolay Markevich considers this warning to be not only attempt of pressure on him and his newspaper but also on economic court that will hear case of liquidation of newspaper on September 27. Initiator of this case is also regional public Prosecutor’s Office. 
BHC Filed More Than 1000 Pages Of Law Breaches During Elections 11:03, 25/09/2001

Belarusian Helsinki Committee and electors Garry Pogonailo and Oleg Gulak appealed to Supreme Court of Belarus on decision of CEC about the result president elections. Claim ( bhc.unibel.by) consists of more than 1000 pages and includes analysis of electoral legislation, violations of law during forming of electoral commissions, violations during registration of candidates, agitation campaign, employment of the administrative resource, pressure on members of the electorate, violation during early voting, during elections, during ballot count.
