Closed Court For Vinnikova’s Son

In the court of the Central district of Minsk legal proceedings on the case of Sergey Vinnikov and three more citizens who are charged with illicit drugs trafficking (Article 328 of the Criminal Code). The court started on September 5, but while Vinnikova was unwell, the proceedings were suspended and restarted only on September 26. Judge Piotr Kirkovsky gave a positive response to a petition for a close court. If was made reportedly “for preventing leak of the confidential information on the private life of the persons involved in the case, that could insult their dignity”.

You must remember that Sergey Vinnikov, the son of Tamara Vinnikova, the former head of the National Bank of Belarus, who served a sentence in a pre-detention center and now fled to London from likely repression, was apprehended on March 21, 2001. Vinnikov accused on a charge of selling small quantities of cocaine to his acquaintances. He might be sentenced to the term lasting from 5 to 10 years. Vinnikov categorically pleads not guilty.
