Smuggled cargo from Russia was seized by the Belarusian customs officers at our country’s western border. This is the greatest contraband in the history of the Belarusian frontier. The load was intercepted by KGB and the State Customs Committee at the Zapadny Bug border.
RIA “Novosti” were told in the SCC that the confiscated stuff (mostly technical appliances) is estimated at 3 million dollars. It took the smugglers 21 huge trucks to try to get the commodity to Russia upon phony documentation.
According to the accompanying papers, presented to the Belarusian customs officers, the senders of the goods were companies from Finland, Poland and Germany.
At the moment, the vehicles had been towed to the police parking lot, where they will stay until full clarification of details. Under the Belarusian legislation, the contraband cargo is due to be confiscated in favor of the state budget.
