Belarusians Opposed to Merger with Russia 11:13, 14/11/2001, GazetaSNG.ru
20,8% of citizens, who engaged in the sociological survey in Belarus, are the convicted opponents of integration with Russia, while 15,6% claim to be its supporters, reports NISEPI. Researchers say that for the very first time over the past two years the integration’s committed critics outnumbered its committed adherents. What kind of relations with the neighboring country do the poll participants want to see?
In the first place this is “friendly relations between two neighboring independent states”, for which 36,1% respondents voted. 45,6% want the “union of two independent countries”. And only some 16% prefer the unification model. In August their number equaled 21,2%. By the way, the fall in the integrationist moods in Belarus continues for the third months now, says NISEPI.
