Indebtedness of Agricultural Companies in Belarus Exceeds 1 Trillion BLR 11:03, 15/11/2001
Overall indebtedness of agricultural enterprises of Belarus is nearing the level of 1,1trillion rubles. These data were reported during the November 14 press-conference deputy Minister for agriculture Anatoly Rubanok. According to him, this includes the debts for energy consumptions, loans etc. “Without the help of the state it’ll be extremely difficult to get out of this plight,” – noted deputy Minister.
Salary indebtedness before the workers in agriculture constitutes 23 billion rubles. Meantime, the number of unprofitable companies keeps growing. Rubanik said that while in 2000 there were 1,185 unprofitable companies in the countryside (48,2%), in 2001, according to preliminary data, their number will grow to 1,400. Respectively, the number of profitable husbandries will decrease too – from 1,072 in 2000 to 942 this year.
