Reporters of Banned Pahonia Warned 11:07, 27/11/2001
Pavel Mazheika and Andzhej Pisalnik, two journalists of Pahonia, an independent newspaper closed on decision of the Belarusian Supreme Economic Court, received a warning from Leninsky district court in Hrodna.
They were found guilty of participating in unauthorized picket against Pahonia closure in Hrodna on November 19. According to the court, it constitutes an infringement of the article 166 and of the article 167-1 Part 1 of the Administrative Code (disobedience to the lawful orders of the police and breaking the order of organizing and carrying out mass meetings).
The editor-in-chief of the non-state newspaper Pahonia Mikola Markevich is to stand trial as well, as the police drew up a report about administrative offence, BelaPAN agency informs.
