Economic Growth Rates in Decline 11:15, 15/01/2002
In 2001 the country recorded the reduction of growth rates of the Belarusian economy. According to the Ministry of statistics and analysis, the volume of the gross domestic product rose by 4,1%, as compared to 5,8% in 2000. The production of industrial goods rose by 5,4% (7,8%), agricultural – 1,8% (9,3%).
Grain harvesting increased by 6% (in 2000 – by 33), vegetables – 3 (6), sugar beet – 14 (24). There had been gathered 11% more potatoes (in 2000 – 16%), 15% less flax (in 2000 – 78% more) and 8% less eggs (in 2000 – 3% less).
