“Partisan” In Modern Belarusian Context
11:13, 23/01/2002

A first issue of art magazine “pARTisan” was released in Minsk. “Magazine that would make one look at modern Belarusian context in a different way” – this words are written on its cover. The main idea of the new magazine is a concept of a partisan as a new national cultural model. A text of the program “Partisan and Anti-Partisan” by the founder and publisher of “pARTisan” Artur Klinau is dedicated to this theme as well.

According to founder and publisher of the magazine, Belarusian artist and chairman of the Modern Art Association, Artur Klinau, preparatory work on the first issue of the magazine continued for about a year. Such a long period can be explained by the unique theme and materials. “We intentionally refuse to publish all archival, traditional and well-studied genres in art, -- Klinau says. -- The sphere of our interests is fresh, innovative and “cool” art, which includes use of modern technologies. This art has not been lying on the shelves of history, it was not subject to reflection and immovability. Its heroes are living. They are our authors”.

Among the authors of the first issue we can mention writer and artist Yuras Baryssevich, philosophers and writers Valyantsin Akudovich and Ihar Babkou, critic, photo-artist and principal of the Belarusian Academy of Art Mikhal Barazna, art expert from Vitsebsk Larisa Mikhnevich and others. In the near future the first issue of the magazin could be found in libraries, societies of artists. As Artur Klinau says, “every cultural personality of our city and our country will get a copy of it”.
