Russian Trade Unions Set to Picket Belarusian Embassy In Moscow
11:15, 30/01/2002

Executive committee of the largest Russian trade union – Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia – at their last assembly ruled to picket Belarusian Embassy in Moscow and to hand over a declaration of protest against violations of trade unions’ rights in Belarus to the government and Alyaxandar Lukashenka.

Many times ITUF, foreign and international trade unions, World Trade Organization addressed Belarusian authorities and pointed out that their actions contradict democratic principles of a civilized state, as well as the principles of social partnership. But these addresses were ignored by the leadership of the state, and the ITUF chairman got a negative answer for his last letter of to Lukashenka with a request to meet and discuss the problems of trade union rights in Belarus.

ITUF Executive committee decided to intensify actions of solidarity with Belarusian Trade Unions, and is set to address Trade unions of the CIS countries and Baltic region with a call to join the ITUF initiative.
