Lithuanian energy concern “Lietuvos Energia” has again announced a contest for selling the Belarusian energy debt. The debt dates back to 1998-1999. Its full size this year amounts to around $31mln.
Same source reports that last week the government of Lithuania confirmed the contest’s conditions. The Belarusian debt is being offered to the potential bidders in parts - $1mln for no less than 55% of its cost. According to Lithuania’s estimations, the total volume of profits under such scheme may constitute $17mln. Last year, for example, the Lithuanians also managed to sell the $16,5mln debt for $9mln.
Supposedly, the results of the current tender auction will be announced on Sept. 29 this year.
