The greater number of Belarusians start believing that they are living worse than Russians. Such a conclusion was drawn by the specialists from the Media Group “Soyuz” and the group of companies “monitoring.ru” in a series of polls, held in February 2002. When asked who lives better of the two, 47% of Belarusian nationals said Russians. A year ago only 41% claimed it was so. In Russia 56% believe that they live better than Belarusians, while a year ago there were 52%.
Meantime, only 12% of Russian citizens say that life in Belarus is better. Since last year their number rose by 1%. In Belarus 17% people think they live better than their Russian neighbors, while a year ago 22% stuck to such thinking. 22% of Russians and 29% of Belarusians believe that life is pretty much the same in both countries. Last year the figures were 25% and 24% accordingly. At the same time 10% of Russian and 7% of Belarusian respondents couldn’t answer the question. Last year: 12% and 13% respectively.
