“Gomelavia” At the Edge of Bankruptcy 11:02, 03/04/2002
In connection with the EU ban on air flights to Europe for too noisy jumbo jets the country’s aviation company “Airport Gomelavia” lost an opportunity to carry out international travels. Ahead of the coming tourist season this circumstance will negatively affect the company’s poor financial record, reports IA EKOPRESS.
According to the deputy director for commercial activities “Gomelavia” Yuri Derevyanko, the company’s aviation park consists of the aircrafts, whose technical characteristics fall under the restriction: Tu-154, Tu-134 and An-24. From now on, there’ll be no flying from Gomel to Bulgaria, for example.
So most of the international flights will pass over to the “Belavia”, which has at its disposal more sophisticated planes Tu-154M, which aren’t such noise-makers as the previous models. This will inevitably cause the price-growth on tickets and create a range of other problems too, underscored Yuri Derevyanko.
