Computer discs that were confiscated from one of the Zubr activists, where sent to public prosecutor’s office fro examination. 17 CDs were confiscated by police officers of the Zavadski District some days ago. Video clips dedicated to the Protest March on April 19 were recorded.

The activist of the Conservative Christian Party BPF Viktar Kaveshnikau and activist of the Young Front Zmitser Dashkevich were released from the detainment center. They have spent ten-days’ administrative arrest for their part in unsanctioned demo on March 24 in Minsk, when Freedom Day was celebrated. As said by Kaveshnikau, the conditions of life of the arrested are hard. The walks are prohibited for them; they spend al days in cement building. “First there where 7, and then 10 people in our cell. It is too much, it is even difficult to stand up from the bed”, - said Kaveshnikau in his interview to BelaPAN.

Moldovan Oppositionists Lost MPs’ Immunity

Juridical commission of the Moldovan parliament on law, appointments and immunity deprived the leaders of the oppositional Popular Party Christian Democratic Iurie Rosca and Stefa Sekerianu of immunity. They are organizers of demonstrations that go on in the center of Chisinau starting from January 9. Roscu and Sekerianu are charged with actions aimed at overthrowing the state regime. As the reporters were informed by the head of the commission Maria Postojko, by the end of the week this ruling is to be voted for at the plenary session of the parliament, the “Kommersant” informs.

Belarusian Customs Introduces Discrimination Sanctions Against Lithuania

Association of the goods transporters of Lithuania (“Linava”) believes that the Belarusian customs from April 1 introduced discrimination sanctions against Lithuanian transporters. Belarusian customs unilaterally ordered compulsory convoying of the goods and a number of other restrictions. Now the Lithuanian transporters have to pay about 1 dollar for every kilometer of escorting goods.

Local Soviets Failed Come Up to People’s Expectations

55 percent of the 500 Minsk dwellers that took part in the opinion poll believe that the work of the local Soviets of Deputies do not contribute to improvement of their lives’ conditions. 31% of them are absolutely convinced of that, and 24 percents believe that the activities of the local deputies “more likely do not contribute to improvement of their life”. These are the findings of the opinion poll carried out by sociological service “Zerkalo” of the informational agency BelaPAN on March 25-28 this year. 25% of people think that to some extent the local Soviets improve the standards of their life.

Lukashenka dismissed Valery Tsepkala from the position of the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the USA and to the Mexican United States. On the same day the decree #166 was signed appointing V. Lapata-Zahorsky Ambassador to Lebanon.

Trials For Freedom Day Celebration Go On

The Central Court of Minsk has fined Andrei Achapousky 1.5 minimal salaries for participation in the Freedom Day celebration. Uladzislau Ihnatovich was reprimanded. More than 30 people were arrested and fined for their part in peaceful demonstration on March 24. Today the two last cases to be considered in the Central court.

No Dual Citizenship For Belarus

The lower chamber of the ‘parliament’ has passed in first reading the bill “On Citizenship of the Republic of Belarus”. The new law establishes the legal basis of regulation in the domain of citizenship, regulates grounds, the order of receiving, retaining and cessation of the Belarusian citizenship. On the initiative of deputy justice minister Vitaly Kaluhin, in this project such notion as dual citizenship is absent. According to the official, it is not expedient to introduce this norm, as “if a citizen has a citizenship of another state, it allows him basis to avoid civil obligations or responsibility”.

Homel Region Workers Given Long No-Charge ‘Leaves’

In the Homel region more and more enterprises give their workers to long ‘holidays’ without payment. More than 1000 workers of grease plant have been having holidays for three months already. It is a compelled leave with no charge. Recently at the session of the regional executive committee new leadership of the enterprise has presented an anti-crisis program. It requires 2.5 years and 250 mln BYB for restarting production. While th enterprise has no money at its account, and has an indebtedness equal to 20 billion BYB, Homel executive committee promised its support. The final destiny of the enterprise should be decided at the governmental level, praca.by informs.

First Power Unit Of Rovno Atomic Station Cut Off

The first power unit unit of Rovno atomic power station was switched off the power in emergency regime, the agency “Interfax-Ukraina” was informed by the national company “Energoatom”. The power unit where a planned renovation was to start on Wednesday, was cut off from electricity at 3.02 p.m. in a result of a damage of one of the main automatic regulators of the unit (regulator of the water level). The renovation of the unit is to last until June 7.
