Homel Region Workers Given Long No-Charge ‘Leaves’ 11:02, 04/04/2002
In the Homel region more and more enterprises give their workers to long ‘holidays’ without payment. More than 1000 workers of grease plant have been having holidays for three months already. It is a compelled leave with no charge. Recently at the session of the regional executive committee new leadership of the enterprise has presented an anti-crisis program. It requires 2.5 years and 250 mln BYB for restarting production. While th enterprise has no money at its account, and has an indebtedness equal to 20 billion BYB, Homel executive committee promised its support. The final destiny of the enterprise should be decided at the governmental level, praca.by informs.
At the Homel plant “Krystal”, as the “BDG” informs, the same forced holidays were interrupted: at last the diamonds from Russia were delivered for processing. However the quantity of diamonds was enough only for a two-weeks’ work. The difficulty is the VAT payment conditions that make unprofitable for the Russian company “AlRossa” to deliver diamonds from Yakutsia to Homel “Krystal”, while the contract has been already approved.
