Belarus Set Up to Carry Out Humanitarian Action In Iraq 11:06, 22/04/2002
The Belarusian leadership plans to carry out a humanitarian action in Iraq, RIA “Novosti” correspondent reports. In this connection on April 22-26 a visit of the Belarusian delegation to Iraq is planned. The delegation will be headed by the second-in-command of the presidential administration, Leanid Kozik. The representatives of the ministries of health, trade, of the National air company “Belavia” and pharmaceutical joint venture “Belfarm” are to join the delegation.
During the visit a group of the Belarusian surgeons is to perform a number of charitable operations in the Iraqi hospitals. The Belarusian side is also ready to arrange training of Iraqi physicians.
In the program of the visit by L. Kozik, a co-chairman of the Belarusian-Iraqi trade and economical commission, are scheduled consultations with his Iraqi colleague, vice prime minister, Finance Minister of Iraq Khikmat al-Azzavi, with other ministers of the Iraqi government.
During the meetings it is planed to discuss the state of the bilateral relations, participation of the Belarusian companies in the UN “Oil-for-Food” program, delivery of the humanitarian supplies and agriculture machines.
