Union Of Right Forces Proposes Parliamentary Hearings On Abducted Belarusian Politicians

During his visit to Minsk on April 29 the leader of the faction “Union of the Right Forces” in the Russian State Duma, Boris Nemtsov, met the relatives of the repressed Belarusian politicians. At the meeting the mother of the abducted journalist Zmitser Zavadsky, Volga Zavadskaya, the wives of the disappeared Viktar Hanchar and Anatol Krasousky, the wife of the ex-prime minister of Belarus Yulia Chyhir, as well as the released from jail Andrei Klimau, former deputy of the Supreme Soviet, were present.

During the meeting Boris Nemtsov was given another address of the relatives of the abducted Belarusian opposition activists to the Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to pay attention to the repressions against opposition that take place in Belarus. The leader of the URF faction promised to hand over the address to Putin tomorrow.

Besides, Boris Nemtsov said that the “Union of the Right Forces” is set to initiate parliamentary hearings on the issue of the disappeared Belarusian politicians in the State Duma of the Russian Federation. As said by him, the hearings are to take place either in summer or in autumn this year. It was also stated that the meetings of the relatives of the repressed Belarusians with the leaders of the majority of factions and political movements of the State Duma would be organized.
