Kurapaty Defender Needs Blood Of 15 Donors 11:04, 30/04/2002
A defender of Kurapaty Ales Poklad, who have received bad burns in a result of the fire in the volunteer’s tent, is still situated in the Republican Burns’ Center. The doctors say that he needs not less than 15 donors without delay.
You must remember that on April 19 at 2.30 a.m. unknown offenders poured gasoline on the tent and set it on fire. Young people who have been in a watch from autumn of the last year lived in the tent. They defend the site where in Stalin era people were shot. The Belarusian authorities do not stop the attempts to build a ring road in the place of mass repressions. During the arson three volunteers slept in the tent: Iryna Vyatkina, Vasil Parfianovich and Ales Poklad. The first two managed to remain safe. Ales Poklad was put to hospital.
A few days before the arson Kurapaty volunteers submitted a complaint to the Pubic Prosecutor’s office, where they informed about constant pressure, intimidation and attacks of the unknown on the defenders of Kurapaty.
