Number of Clients Of Belarusian Market of Cellular Communication Fastest Growing In CIS :: Charter'97 :: News

Belarusian market of cellular communication is leading among the CIS countries in the number of clients which grows very fast, said Robert Dashian, sales manager of the joint-venture Velcom (mobile digitall communications). As said by him, last year increase of Velcom’s clients as compared to the number of clients in 2000 has made 275%, in May this year as compared to the same period of the last year – about 250%. At present Velcom has 182 thousand clients. “Not a single country of the CIS has such rapid increase”- said the expert.

To some degree this high achievements can be attributedto the stage of development of the market in general. At the same time, Dashian believes that “the resources of the Belarusian market were underestimated by the experts”. He plans that by the end of the year Velcom would have 300 thousand clients, and in two years- 700 thousand clients.

Soon a new communication company comes to the Belarusian market. However, Dashian believes that the situation would remain favorable for his company, as they have a great number of clients, and are going to make the range of services and the area of operation larger.

“We are not going to succumb in anything to our competitor”, - said the sales manager, meaning that their company plans that their presence at the market will remain broad and well-established.
