MTS Is Through with Putting Their Cellular Network into Operation 11:02, 05/06/2002
Joint Venture “Mobile TeleSystems” finishes preparations for launching into the commercial operation its mobile network in Belarus. If nothing unexpected happens in the next month, in late June the Minskers will be able to sign up for the “world of your freedom”, as the famous commercial goes.
According to the latest information, by June 15 MTS plans to accomplish the construction of the station in the Skarina prospect and office in the Revolutsionnaya str. The main switchboard, based in the Skarina prospect and assembled by the Siemens specialists, can cater for 100thsd phone users.
The afore-mentioned addresses will also accommodate the first two company’s sale centers in Minsk. In future the MTS plan to increase their number and even open the sales office in every one of the Minsk districts.
The main event will supposedly occur on June 28. On that day they plan to hold a solemn opening ceremony of the MTS network in Belarus. They expect that the company’s Moscow leadership will be present there. According to “BDG” they are considering at the moment the possible involvement in the festivities of the Belarusian head of state Alexander Lukashenko.
