Politicians’ Feedback to Putin’s Words 11:04, 25/06/2002
Belarusian politicians view differently yesterday’s speech by Putin. Each of them was trying to notice there some hidden motive, which would suit his own purpose best. BelaPAN interviewed in this connection the main Belarusian Liberal-Democrat Gaidukevich, leader of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party “Narodnaya Gromada” Statkevich and communist Kalyakin.
“We got to thank Vladimir Putin for saving our state sovereignty, helping Belarusians to preserve independence and build the country on our own,” – commented on Putin’s statement the chairman of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Belarus Sergei Gaidukevich.
“Such claims are an attempt to get rid of the annoying integrator,” – deems the chairman of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Narodnaya Gromada) Nikolai Statkevich. Leader of the Party of communists of Belarus Sergei Kalyakin says that yesterday’s Putin’s statement was milder than the last week’s. The man is convinced that Putin meant the formation of the Union state.
