Former MTZ Director to Stay In Prison For Extra 3 Months 11:05, 10/07/2002
It was said by Mikhail Lyavonau’s relatives who refer to his attorneys. As said by the attorneys, it is not known exactly why the Public Prosecutor’s Office has prolonged the term of imprisonment of the former director again.
Mikhail Lyavonau has been in custody from January 6, 2002. First he was placed to Minsk pre-trial detention center, and then he was transferred to detention center in Zhodzina, where the order is the most severe in the country.
Radio Svaboda informs that Mikhail Lyavonau suffers from a severe form of radiculitis, and physicians who treated him before say that he should be put to a hospital. However the opinion of the Prosecutor’s office is that the former director of the largest plant in the country should be kept behind bars.
