Lukashenka Wants to Unite Communists 11:05, 18/07/2002
President Lukashenka thinks that it is a “morbid” tendency when there are two Communist parties in the country. As the press service of the president informs, Lukashenka declared that on Wednesday at a meeting with a group of national assembly MPs – heads of the Communist Partyof Belarus (KPB) Central Committee.
At the meeting importance of uniting all Communists in the Communist Party of Belarus (KPB) was discussed. The KPB is one of the two officially registered Communist parties in Belarus, which is known for its support of Lukashenka. The Party of Communists of Belarus (PKB), on the contrary, is in opposition to the policy of the current government of the state.
As the press service informs, at the yesterday’s meeting Lukashenka declared importance of country’s political forces consolidation. As said by him, “The Communist Party must be an example of political forces’ consolidation and contribute to this process”.
