Chechen Guerilla Shows Up in Belarus 11:01, 10/09/2002
Former first deputy of the late Chechen rebel commander Johar Dudaev – Saipudi Umhaev – was detained in Belarus, reports NTVRU.COM with a reference to “Interfax”. Belarusian KGB learnt that during the first Chechen war the man was closely connected with Salman Raduev and engaged in combat actions against Russian federal forces, including the notorious invasion into the Pervomaiskoye village.
The center for information and public relations of KGB reports that the Russian FSB confirmed this data, adding that the man isn’t wanted by the Russian law-enforcement bodies. For the time being Umhaev is kept in the Partizansky police station, awaiting deportation.
