Striking Cabbies Stripped of License 11:19, 13/09/2002
Yesterday around 30 minivan taxi drivers made their way from Krychev to Mogilev to appeal against the policy of the Krychev town hall. According to the cab drivers, the town hall ruled on September 4 to deprive all 75 cabbies of their license for passenger rides. The district authorities motivate their decision by pointing out that the drivers didn’t go to work on September 1, having thus upheld the national entrepreneurs’ strike and created inconveniences for the town dwellers.
The drivers, in their turn, claim that officially they didn’t engage in the motion. According to them, among those, rid of the license, were also those who paid taxes in advance or were hospitalized. They don’t understand why the authorities dismissed all of them at once, reports BelaPAN.
