The Belarusian national library`s charitable account will receive 500,000 dollars. The Iraqi government will allocate this amount for the construction of the new library building in Minsk, reports BBC Monitoring with a reference to the Belarusian Nationwide Channel (ONT).

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Abd-al-Tawwab Abdallah al-Mullah Huwaysh commented on the event the following way: “This is Iraq`s contribution to the construction of the national library. We know very well that this amount is not big, actually it is symbolic and is a demonstration of the Iraqi people`s respect to Belarus. If we had no embargo we would have made a more substantial contribution”. According to the presenter, the Iraqi deputy prime minister voiced this statement during his meeting with the Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko. At that meeting the Belarusian leader declared that any charges, piled against Iraq, are baseless and our cooperation doesn’t involve anything illicit.
