Douglas Davidson: It Is a Dialogue of the Deaf

Deputy chief of the US mission to the OSCE Permanent Council Douglas Davidson criticized on November 14 the situation with human rights and freedoms in Belarus. The US diplomat reiterated his concerns over the crisis around the AMG presence in Minsk, deterioration of human rights record in Belarus, religious freedom restriction and country’s failure to meet the CEAP demands. He recalled that the US has been long pressing on to initiate sound dialogue on these matters, but to no avail. “It appears to us as nothing but a dialogue of the deaf,” – complained Davidson bitterly.

Kolomiyts’ Body Buried Quick in Belarus

The body, which police identified as belonging to Kolomiyts, has already been buried in Belarus, “Ukrainian News” quotes the Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuri Smirnov as saying. According to the Minister, Belarusian law-enforcers at first failed to identify him and buried his body, although the Ukrainian side “provided them with all concomitant information”.

Lukashenko Cancels Visit to Bishkek

Alexander Lukashenko’s official visit to Kyrgizia, scheduled for Wednesday, “is delayed by the Belarusian side till a later date,” – RIA “Novosti” correspondent was told on Tuesday by the deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgizia Lidya Imanalieva.

During the judicial proceedings, the wife of the disappeared deputy chairman of the Supreme Soviet intends to check out whether the investigative activities properly comply with the law.

Kolomiyts’ Body Found in Molodechno Forest

The body of the Ukrainian journalist Mikhail Kolomiyts’ body was unearthed by the Belarusian law-enforcers in one of the woods in close vicinity of Molodechno, “Mediafact” was told on Tuesday by the press-secretary of the Interior Ministry Dmitry Parton.

Lukashenko, Officials to Turn Personas-Non-Grata

The European Union may prohibit entering the EU countries to Alexander Lukashenko and a range of the Belarusian state figures. The issue will be raised at the Council of Ministers of the EU countries, due to take place today in Brussels. According to the EFE agency, they have already drawn a list, which includes, apart from the Belarusian Ministers and their deputies, the heads of the presidential Administration, state TV and some other officials.

Ukrainian Journalist Found Hanged in Belarus

Belarusian police found the dead body of the director of the “Ukrainian News” Mikhail Kolomiets, who went missing in late October, reported on Monday the “UN” news agency with a reference to the head of the department of criminal search of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine Vladimir Evdokimov.
