On December 14 Orsha (Vitebsk region) hosted concert of the Moscow band “Kolovrat”, which is composed of the activists of the unregistered neo-Nazi organization “Russian National Unity” (RNU). The concert attracted over a hundred skinheads from all over Belarus. They were waving banners with swastikas and shouting threats against representatives of non-Slavic nationalities. In their home country the group is banned, for the Moscow authorities are fighting the propaganda of national intolerance and extremism. In Russia they cannot find place for their concerts, while in Belarus they are provided with facilities by the state Belarusian Republic’s Youth Union.
The concert was mentioned in the announcements as an activity, targeted at combating AIDS. Coordination Council of democratic forces of Orsha appealed to the BRYU leadership with a request to bring to accountability the organizers of this odious event. They started collecting signatures among the town’s intelligentsia. Expectedly, the town’s veterans’ organizations will also respond to the event.
