Counselor for culture of the Belarusian embassy in USA Alexander Hmurest never returned home. Foreign Ministry sources explained that the man gave up his post back in July. At the same time they know nothing of his current whereabouts. According to certain data, he lives in the USA and found employment there. This information was confirmed by deputy head of the information department Andrei Savinyh. The reasons for such an act remain unidentified. However, the very fact that the authorities thoroughly silence the incident, makes one think that the real causes could well be of a political character.

Up until his mission trip to the USA Alexander Hmurets worked as an aide of the former country’s Premier Sergei Ling. As we learnt from different sources, not only his former boss Sergei Ling recommended him to be appointed counselor for culture, but also the current first deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Vasily Pugachev.
As once said by the head of state, every failure has its author. One can rest assured that in the case of the FM fugitive they will also find a scapegoat.
