Belarus’ Official Delegation Meets with Saddam Hussein 10:58, 23/12/2002
Belarusian official delegation met on Sunday, December 22 with the president of Iraq Saddam Hussein. Radio Svaboda reports that Hussein told deputy head of Lukashenko’s Administration Nikolai Ivanchenko that the international community is doing too little in order to stop the military aggression against Iraq and lift charges of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. “We already told the world that we don’t produce these kinds of ammunition, but the world doesn’t seem to care,” – said Hussein to Ivanchenko.
He added that Iraq intends to protect himself from any US assault. “With our respect for the world, which asked us to let the UN inspectors return to Iraq, we accepted resolution 1441, despite its bad nature,” – said Hussein and added: “The inspectors spent 23 days in Iraq and explored the places, where Iraq is reported to produce arms of mass destruction, finding none of it”. Now, stressed Hussein, it is high time Washington says “No”.
