Belarusian authorities are preparing a new financial “bomb” for their citizens: the privatization rules in the country will be reviewed.
The prolonged privatization had to end twice this year by the payment of compensation for the unused vouchers. Before the New Year eve the government approved draft law, which promised no real money in reimbursement for Belarusians. Many harbored illusions that they would receive cash in exchange for outdated vouchers. Up until present moment the population accumulated almost 200mln vouchers (less than a half of all amount). The citizens will probably have to invest them somewhere now, receiving miserable dividends in response. Now the draft law on amendments has been submitted for consideration to Lukashenko, who will have to solve this tough problem.
