In course of Vladimir Putin’s visit to Minsk police have been operating in an emergency regime but all the same failed to avoid clashes. Despite the order of the police leadership not to detain anyone and prevent any incidents, a few riot policemen in civilian beat the women from the Human Rights League.
Radio Svaboda reports that a couple of ladies, including Katerina Sadovskaya and Mariya Alferovich, tried to pave their way through to the Oktyabrskaya square of Minsk. The riot policemen in plain clothes assaulted them at once, strongly pushing Katerina Sadovskaya aside. The woman hardly managed to stay on her feet. Pensioner and disabled person Mariya Alferovich (walking on a stick) was beaten by the attackers. One of them twisted her arms behind her back, while another beat her on the back and legs. Afterwards the ladies joined opposition action, held on that day by the relatives of the repressed Belarusian opposition members. The law-enforcers in civilian accompanied them all the way.
