Criminal Action on Abductions of Gonchar, Krasovsky Over 11:20, 22/01/2003
There have been halted criminal lawsuit on the involuntary disappearance of deputy chairman of the 13th Supreme Soviet Viktor Gonchar and businessman Anatoly Krasovsky. Irina Krasovskaya was told this by the head of the investigation group Vladimir Chumachenko.
Investigation lasted from September 1999 and finally the procuracy officials determined that there’s no more point in prolonging it. Detective Chumachenko claims that the “case has no perspectives at the moment”.
Irina Krasovskaya commented on the investigator’s decision in her interview to Radio Svaboda in the following way:
“They simply want to stop once and for all the investigation into the disappearances in order not to answer the questions, posed by the relatives, lawyers and international commission which will examine the outcomes of investigation. Such a decision came as no surprise to me, for I’m convinced that the country’s leadership is implicated in these abductions.
Colonel Alkaev, currently in refuge in Berlin, doesn’t trust official explanations. He says that there are more than enough facts to find perpetrators of Gonchar and Krasovsky’s vanishing, but the investigator doesn’t have any access to them:
- This investigator is a misfortune, for he cannot do anything, except to fulfill the high order. Even if he appeals to the prosecutor general, this will not help. That’s why I’m saying that the case will be solved when new people come to power. Moreover, the guilty persons are already identified. What they only need is to interrogate them. The whole thing will take no more than one month once they start it, - says colonel Alkaev.
