Country’s Leading Markets in Pre-Strike State :: Charter'97 :: News

Individual entrepreneurs announced pre-strike state at the leading markets of Belarus. Such a decision was passed on January 21 at the general meeting of representatives of entrepreneurial structures, who organized protest actions in September-October last year.

BelaPAN was told by individual entrepreneur from Minsk Anatoly Shumchenko that the participants of the meeting discussed presidential decree “On common tax, levied from individual entrepreneurs and some measures to stimulate entrepreneurial activities”, which was supposed to replace decree #12 on a common tax. The reason for their indignation were media reports, claiming that the new draft decree had been discussed with the entrepreneurs.

As has been stated at the meeting, nobody really discussed it with them. Upon the outcomes of the assembly it was determined that they should announce a pre-strike state and, if the afore-mentioned decree gets ratified, resume a national entrepreneurs’ protest, halted in last October.

Meantime, on January 22 the Grodno entrepreneurs already went on a warning strike, which attracted over 8thsd people. Apart from economic claims, Grodno entrepreneurs also came up with the political ones – president’s and government’s resignation.
