The Supreme Belarusian Court is set to consider the appeal of the “Association of the Belarusian Language” (TBM) against the policy of the Justice Ministry, which reprimanded the organization two months ago. Given the court doesn’t cancel the warning, TBM may face the danger of closure, for it will be their second one. Expectedly, the final court’s verdict will be pronounced on January 29.
The warning, which TBM tries to protest in court, has been issued in November last year. The Supreme Court’s decision may seriously impact the further existence of TBM: not so long ago – on January 21 – the association received its second reprimand, which it is not going to appeal against as different from the previous one. The snag is, the state practically instructs one of the TBM branches in Lida to use a stamp with a historic Belarusian emblem. Local police has been for a long time refusing them the right to use Belarusian national emblem on their official stamp.
