ILO Keeps Receiving Complaints from Belarus 12:32, 04/02/2003
Chairman of the Minsk district organization of cultural workers’ trade union Vladimir Mamonko filed a petition to the committee for the freedom of association of the International Labor Organization (ILO), headquartered in Geneva, over “continuing violation of trade unions’ rights in the country”.
IA “Rosbalt” was told by Vladimir Mamonko that the root-cause for his contacting ILO were “anti-trade union measures, applied by the supreme ruling bodies of Belarus, targeted at destroying the regional trade union”. The trade union boss pleaded with the ILO committee for the freedom of associations to protect the trade union from the lawless activities.
