Uta Zapf: “Position of OSCE has not changed” 11:29, 05/02/2003
OSCE Parliamentary Assembly official delegation, headed by the chair of the special OSCE PA group for Belarus Uta Zapf, will come in Minsk on February, 5 and stay in Minsk for two days. Among those delegated to Minsk are Urban Alin (Sweden), Fred Ponsombi (Great Britain), Gabor Hars (Hungary) and program employee of OSCE PA Paul Legendre. As radio “Liberty” informed before, in spite of certain actions of Belarusan side for opening new OSCE office demands of European politicians has not changed. Four conditions of OSCE will not be changed: authority of parliament, discrimination of political opposition and independent media, access of opposition to state media will be discussed during this visit.
Of course our position concerning Human Rights has not changed and it will not change in spite of opening of OSCE office. It is well known that OSCE mission has been always trying to introduce this principles on Belarus. Values like democratization, Human rights, liberalization has been always discussed in Belarus, because their state is insufficient from the point of view of civilized Europe. This problems remain actual. Of course we are taking into account positive changes. I mean possibility for OSCE to work on this problems again, -- said Uta Zapf to radio “Liberty”. During the visit to Minsk European MP’s will meet Foreign minister and Minister of information, representatives of administration of Lukashenko, deputy’s of “parlament”, representatives of opposition and independent media.
