Belarus Rebukes European Parliament over Double Standards 11:25, 14/02/2003
Belarusian Foreign Ministry decries alleged application of double standards by the European Parliament, which has recently passed resolution on investigation into trade unions’ rights in Belarus, reports RIA “Novosti”.
As deemed by deputy head of the FM information department Andrei Savinyh, “this resolution didn’t become a step forward towards the development of cooperation ties between the European countries and Belarus”. He underscored that “dialogue between Belarus and EU must be based on a constructive and equal basis, without any double standards’ application”. Andrei Savinyh noted that “such a dialogue can only be carried out through getting Belarus involved in the European processes.
According to Andrei Savinyh, the European Parliament passed its decision, based on “the wrong perception of the real state of affairs in Belarus and obsolete postulates of the limited contacts’ policy”.
