Pavel Mozheiko’s Sentence May Be Reviewed 11:29, 18/02/2003
The Supreme Court of Belarus required the judicial lawsuit of the shut Grodno newspaper “Pagonya” in order to consider the complaint of the convicted journalist Pavel Mozheiko. It isn’t until the consideration of the required case that the Supreme Court may file a protest, reports the court’s administration.
“That fact sounds promising,” – BelaPAN quotes the head of the legal service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Mikhail Pastukhov as saying: “The fact that the appeal was taken for consideration gives us hope that the verdict may be softened”.
The lawsuit came from the Leninsky district court of Grodno into the Supreme court on January 27, which means that the final outcome of the hearings will be made public after February 27.
